Market study on petrol prices in Launceston
Overview
Launceston is the second regional location being studied by the ACCC under the petrol monitoring arrangements announced by the Minister for Small Business, the Hon Bruce Billson MP, in December 2014.
The aims of this market study are to explain why prices are higher in Launceston relative to the larger capital cities and to explain each component of the prices paid at the bowser.
The ACCC is using its compulsory information gathering powers under Section 95ZK of the Competition and Consumer Act 2010 to obtain information from participants in the Launceston fuel market.
The market study of Launceston petrol prices is expected to be completed in the second half of 2015.
